working poor to do with wage excesses?
The vexed subject of the outrageous compensation employs once more politics, economy and media. Thus, this issue was recently devoted even an arena show. The people are confused, angry, and calls for swift action on those pay excesses. As ideas are simplistic, such as the rip-off initiative, very convenient.
The danger hinauszuschiessen this initiative over the top, is acute. Now, companies in Switzerland are beübt with a new law to prevent these wage excesses. Mind you, the media apprehended, ultimately abutting excesses observed in large-scale international corporations and not in the number of 100,000 SMEs in Switzerland. If populism is not here yet ostensibly serves as a motivation, is not further commented. In addition to the cheaters initiative is also required from the left, a maximum wage ratio. It argues is enough to live that in Switzerland more than 200,000 working poor and to take action. I wonder if this group is helped if more laws are passed, which ultimately inhibits economic growth, because the playing field with respect to the non-competitiveness as a result. Growth and a prosperous economy but it helps all, so we can training and continuing education courses as well as scholarships are funded so that children learn very well from working poor an equal opportunity. Unfortunately, no reliable data are collected, which show why the 200,000 people in Switzerland are in the category of working poor (only socio-demographic groups are available). Partly as a result that instead of the free time to invest in training, they invested more in barbecue parties, on the shore? As already stated in previous letters to the editor, I am strongly against this as a liberal thinker salary cap and an application of a binding Lohverhältnisses. I throw that is the question of whether, for example, a generally applicable wage ratio, in a global company with a diverse portfolio of employee - relating to the country affiliation and education level - from more than 70,000 employees in 50 countries is even realistic. By comparison, in sport prize money - for example at a (deserved) victory at Roland-Garros several million - paid out to shake the almost anyone. Individual athletes are usually responsible for a manageable team, while SMEs and bankers have a broad-based economic responsibility (which was added in the past not adequately perceived).
Switzerland is in a crisis and to act. I am convinced that, however, is not to find the right way in the aggravation of economic conditions. The powers regarding the salary issue is the owners of the companies award. They should decide how the exponents are to be compensated for their work. A strengthening of shareholder rights, I consider as a viable way to not burdening SMEs also unnecessary. But beware: greedy demands return of shareholders, companies can also drive into the abyss. The fact that the commitment of the Federal UBS negotiated badly, should not be corrected by a national over-reaction, but by goal-oriented solutions. After all: the mandatory convertible bond pays the UBS with 12.5% and rinsed by CHF 750 million per annum (All Time CHF 1.87 billion) into the state treasury.
